Lea Katherine Thompson

Thompson was born on May 31, 1961, in Rochester, Minnesota,[ one of five children of Clifford and Barbara Barry Thompson, a musician. Thompson is the older sister of Coleen Goodrich, Shannon Katona and Barry Katona. Her mother is Irish. Mikhail Baryshnikov who was then the artistic director, told her "You're an amazing dancer but you're just too big." It was her "epiphany" in which she said it was the point which made me decide to quit dancing and stop being the ballet dancer. It was a wonderful moment since I could have been banging my head against the wall for another 10 years. "[She made the switch to acting. She moved to New York at the age of 20 and appeared in several Burger King commercials in the 1980s with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Her co-star in Back to the Future Part II was Elisabeth Shue. and her movie debut in 1983, with Jaws 3-D. She recalls the film as "the the first film I ever got, but I was lying and claimed that I'd seen a couple of other movies, so when I showed up, I really knew almost nothing about. I also claimed that I could waterski. However, I didn't. Since I was required to take part in the Sea World water-skiing program, I was given five days in which to study the fundamentals of water-skiing. I don't even know how to swim!" The album was followed by All the Right Moves (1983), Red Dawn (84) and The Wild Life (84).
